THE
LIGHTHOUSE
The title sequence to the 2019 feature film The Lighthouse is created with footage of analog techniques and overlaid typography to give the audience a sense (or warning) of what they are about to witness. The film is crafted with very odd approaches to cinematography, screenwriting, character dynamics, and set design. While the movie stars the well-known actors Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, the film is anything but a normal film. The title sequence attempts to capture the off-putting nature of The Lighthouse through experimental choices in pacing, sound, and footage, with a key concept in mind: there is something a little off inside of that lighthouse.
